Community
Keystone, Iowa, located in Benton County is a peaceful, neighborly, farming community established in 1881 with the arrival of the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railroad. Keystone, population 622, offers residents all of the pleasures of small town life, combined with the advantage of a short commute for any goods and services they can’t find right here at home. We have a strong community based in the Benton Community School District, offering high quality education and a personal touch that is often lacking in larger schools.
Our town has a beautiful city park, ball diamond, tennis court, and offers family oriented activities throughout the year including a summer recreation program. We are a host to a number of volunteer civic organizations including the fire department and first responders.
Keystone’s small town values and spirit make our town a friendly and safe place to live. We are a small but proud community constantly working towards community betterment.
We are home to the Keystone Turner Hall, a dance hall that can be rented for Wedding/Graduation Receptions, Holiday Parties, Business Meetings and more. The six lane bowling alley can be reserved at any time for parties or business gatherings. They offer a full catering menu to provide for your occasion or any off-site occasion. The Turners host the annual Children’s Day, a German custom since 1904, and BBQ Round-Up. We are also home to the Darold Sindt Antique Museum, featuring a variety of approximately 200 tractors and implements plus riding lawn mowers, pedal tractors and other interesting collectibles. Also located in Keystone are: St. John Lutheran church, which also provides daycare services to the whole community, a locally owned bank-Keystone Savings Bank, Schroeder Public Library-a full service library, Keystone Mini Mart convenience store, the Keystone Nursing and Rehabilitation Center which offers complete nursing care services, skilled care and assisted living apartments. KNCC is our largest employer. Keystone also has many home based businesses.
